A little about Patty, your cake designer and chef...Being a romantic at heart, Patty is all about creating beautiful things; whether it be art on a canvas, planting flowers, or designing cakes. She wholeheartedly believes that your wedding cake is so much more than a dessert, it tells your story.

She tailors each wedding cake to reflect your personality, your style and your love story. Patty wants you to step back and be able to see your wedding cake as an expression of your beautiful love story.

I've been married to an amazing man for 22 years. My husband is retired from the military and we traveled and lived all over the USA. I am a mom of a beautiful grown daughter who has gifted us with 2 incredible grandchildren. I also have two golden retrievers and a pug who keep me laughing every day. My family is my shining light.

When I am not designing jaw-dropping cakes, you can find me gardening, working on home projects, or having a glass of wine sitting out on my deck watching the sunset with my husband.

The photo here is me sitting in a lavender field at my happy place, our local lavender farm. Lavender is one of my most favorite scents. I often visit the farm for organic culinary lavender in which I create wonderful cakes with. The scent of lavender immediately sets me in a relaxed state.

I am a true flower child, loving all things nature and flowers. Growing a butterfly/hummingbird/honey bee garden every summer keeps nature close by to my heart and soul.

My Professional Journey

Designing cakes is my dream job; baking, creating beautiful edible artwork, and making people happy speaks to my soul. I've been in the cake making business for twelve years as a home-based business owner, to an owner of a retail bakery and back again to a home-based business, making many different types of baked goods, and finally evolving into a wedding cake business where my heart truly is.

For the past couple of years, I have been honored to have my cakes featured in American Cake Decorating Magazine in their wedding issue and holiday issue.

Cake designing is not my first career. I was a nurse for twenty five years and a paralegal for five years. Big difference, huh? My previous careers gave me so much life experience to venture out on my own and go with my inner artist to create cakes that will make someone smile.

Last year my husband and I vacationed in Italy, touring many regions from the most northern all the way down to the island of Capri and Amalfi Coastline. It was a life-changing experience. The beauty, the art, the food and the wine. Absolutely incredible vacation. Many of my flavor options I offer at Design My Cake By Patty are inspired by the desserts I have enjoyed in Italy, passing on the experience to you.
